Josh Newton serves as Senior Director of Communications for the Council of the Cherokee Nation, a position held since February 2026. In this role, he supports Councilmembers and Council leadership through public relations, media engagement and digital communications. He previously spent nearly a decade with Cherokee Nation Communications, joining in 2017 as a Public Relations Specialist, before being promoted to Deputy Director of Communications in 2019, a role held until his move to the Council in 2026.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern State University and a Master of Arts in Digital Communications from The University of Alabama.
